Outstanding Director Award

Ila Vee McGahey is recognized for her outstanding leadership and management during her twenty years as director of the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC). McGahey has shown exceptional character, dedication, and professionalism in her commitment and longevity in serving non-traditional students. The outreach of the EOC has extended to twenty-six counties and three states serving more than 28,000 participants. Her contributions to the success of the center are numerous.

Technical Support Staff Award

Tammi Basile is recognized for her technical expertise, commitment, and willingness to go beyond the call of duty to excel in her position as a computer analyst. Basile has multiple skills and the capacity to perform numerous tasks, including system analysis, computer programming, desktop publishing, editing, photography, and collaboration on proposal development. During her twelve years with the center, she has demonstrated her willingness to take on new tasks and expand her position expectations in order to make significant contributions to the success of the center.

Outstanding Director Emeritus Award

Dr. Connie (Hollingsworth) Bronson is recognized for the leadership, dedication, expertise, and professionalism she demonstrated during the sixteen years she served as director of two pre-college programs. Dr. Bronson's commitment to serving low-income, first-generation students is undeniable. The results of her hard work and contributions to the projects remain in the CAPS Outreach Center's framework and success.

Upcoming New Professional Award

Lana Wilcox is recognized for outstanding service to students in the Academic Enrichment Program (AEP). During her nine years as a resident assistant and educational specialist, Wilcox has mentored, tutored, and counseled students in the AEP. The academic, cultural, and social experiences she has provided have assisted many to overcome significant barriers, graduate high school, enter postsecondary education, and pursue professional careers. While working full-time, she is in the process of completing her graduate degree. Her persistence, communication skills, and dedication to service are exceptional.
